Historic Teams Will Not Be Playable Online in NBA 2K12

Another huge blow to the appeal of NBA 2K12 was confirmed today as Kotaku reports that historic teams will not be available for use in online play. There was disappointment last year when the teams were not allowed to be taken online even in unranked games but providing the opportunity this year was much more critical under the circumstances. Last year at least there was roster movement through free agency and in-season updates that added intrigue and variety at release and beyond.
Interest in 2K12 has taken a serious hit as of late due to the realization that the NBA

NBA changing age limit?

ept_sports_rumors-418512753-1314697480_thumb.jpg?ymIUkkFDvyYcxs4T

The NBA and its players are slowly haggling over a new collective bargaining agreement and Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears reports that one of the issues that hasn't yet been discussed but is on the list of possible things that could change is the rule that won't allow players to join the league until they are 19 years old and out of high school for at least one year.
That's the rule that sent Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings(notes) to Italy to play for Lottomatica Roma instead of for the University of Arizona Wildcats before entering the NBA draft

Negotiators for the NFL and the players union will meet with anti-doping experts next week as they try to reach an agreement on HGH testing before the start of the season, people familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.
Though the league and union reached a general agreement in their new labor deal to test for human growth hormone, the union is waiting to see the specifics of the program before giving its final OK.

nfl_a_phillips_580.jpg

Two weeks after the N.F.L. announced that, starting this season, every player would be tested for human growth hormone at least once a year, and possibly many more times, its players union says there may be no H.G.H. testing at all.
“The truth is that we have not agreed to any of the terms and everything the league has said is what it hopes for,” George Atallah, the union’s spokesman, said in a telephone interview late Thursday. “All of those things they are talking about are still open to discussion.”
He added that the league was also premature in announcing

Pryor considers appealing ban

superbowl.jpg

Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor could appeal the five-game suspension levied against him by the NFL should he be chosen in Monday's supplemental draft, a decision that would add another layer of complexity to an already unprecedented situation.
The NFL decided Pryor, one of six players eligible for the supplemental draft, must sit out the first five games after he signs with a team.
Pryor gave up his final season with the Buckeyes after an investigation into the team's memorabilia-for-cash scandal. Pryor would have had to sit out five games had he chosen to return to Ohio State this

Are Milwaukee Bucks Zeroing In On Marcus Morris In 2011 NBA Draft?

Every NBA team is consistently bringing in various players to get a better look at the prospects who may be on the board come their turn at the upcoming 2011 NBA Draft. But a closer look at a recent workout might reveal more than draft homework when it comes to the Milwaukee Bucks. That’s because the group of players really don’t make much sense.
The Bucks will be selecting at No. 10 and 40 overall in the draft if no trades are made. Yet a recent group of prospects brought in, headed up by Kansas forward Marcus Morris, featured only

In This Corner: Fighting is just fine in the NBA

If there is one thing that really grinds my gears, it is NBA players that run their mouth.
Don’t get me wrong, I love talking trash any chance I get. Most of the time when I am competing, anyone you ask will tell you I run my mouth, and I do it a lot because that’s what I am good at.
But smack talking on the hardwood is unique.
It is almost inevitable once the right words are said. A hard foul comes along and escalates the situation. Sometimes the result is too large, and testosterone-filled men are standing toe-to-toe

Playoffs back on track

If we were the gambling type, the "7-Up Stinks Studio" would have gotten a new flat screen thanks to the predictable stink bomb that the Hawks trotted out in Orlando on Tuesday. That was the classic, "We're up 3-1, we're going to go back home for Game 6, let's just have a little fun...." 25-point whipping last night.
The scary thing about that though, is if the Magic roll into the ATL and force Game 7, well, all bets are off — especially if the game comes down to coaches. Stan Van Gundy will coach circles around Larry Drew. Yes,

NFL Draft Rumors: Will St. Louis Trade Up to Land Star Wide Receiver?

107842057_crop_340x234.jpg?1303681985

There has been a belief all offseason that the Rams would be looking to bring in a star receiver, most likely through the draft.
Julio Jones has been long projected as the top target for the Rams, however, that may not be the case any longer.
Rams GM Billy Devaney has indicated that the team has no problem staying put by making the following statement provided to Bill Coats of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
There are more scenarios that we’re playing with at 14. But we have a decent feel for the possibilities. We’ll just be ready to react however
